    1. 4.  William Douglas HULBERT was born on 07 Sep 1913 in Calgary, AB (son of Gordon Raymond HULBERT and Elizabeth (Lizzie) COUSINS); died on 24 Sep 1989 in Millarville, AB.

      Notes:

      Bill spent most of his life working in the oil industry as a production accountant. Even in his later years, he was an expert swimmer. As a youth, he was an active member of the YMCA . He was a founding member of the Calgary Swimming Club. He also was a founding member of Riverview United Church and served as their first Sunday School Superintendent. After building in Elboya in 1947, he was active in forming the Elboya Community Association and served as President for several years. He was kind with an "earthy" sense of humour. Dorothy moved to Canada with her family as an infant and homesteaded in the Jenner district. Moved to Calgary in 1925 and attended high school and business college. Her career spanned 40 years in the oil industry. She played the piano by ear and could sing harmony at the same time . With only grade 11, she tutored many neighbourhood children in math. She was a founding member of Riverview United Church and sang in the choir for over 32 years.

      William married Dorothy Tomana MAXIE on 25 Mar 1937 in Calgary, AB. Dorothy (daughter of Gustave MAXIE and Klaudine (Dena) Tomana LANGSTROM) was born on 08 Mar 1909 in Chicago,IL; died on 11 Apr 1992 in Calgary, AB. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

      Jean worked as a seamstress in a tailor shop making mens trousers. Ernie worked for Imperia l Oil in Sarnia as a pipe fitter for over 30 years. He retired at age 59 when they moved t o Lucan, then back to Sarnia. They moved to Stratford only a short time before they both die d in 1980.

    1. 8.  Gordon Raymond HULBERT was born on 21 Nov 1885 in Montreal, QC (son of William Gale HULBERT, Sr. and Florence ELLIOTT); died on 27 Jan 1928 in Edmonton, AB.

      Notes:

      Started to work for Canadian General Electric in Montreal in Sep. 1902. Then with Montreal Light, Heat and Power Co. in 1905. He left Montreal on Aug. 14th and arrived in Calgary, AB to work for Alberta Portland Cement on Aug. 20, 1907. In 1909 he returned to Canadian General Electric as supply manager. In 1915 he took over managership of Motor Car Supply in Edmonton, AB. He was a founding member of the Edmonton Rotary Club. In Dec. 1928 in complained of a back ache and went to the hospital and discovered it was a ruptured appendix. He died at home.

      Gordon married Elizabeth (Lizzie) COUSINS on 25 Jan 1911 in Calgary, AB. Elizabeth (daughter of Arthur (Bubba) COUSINS and Sarah Margaret MOORE) was born on 15 Aug 1887 in Montreal, QC; died on 20 Oct 1973 in Calgary, AB. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
