- Henry William Moody:
Henry William Moody was born in 1858 in Landford, Wiltshire. He
worked as a blacksmith in the Southampton dockyards. He married Clara
Hulbert on 9th May 1885 in Sholing, and she died from tuberculosis
on 1st December 1885, 6 days before her father, Richard Croker
Hulbert, also died from the same disease. Henry's second wife was
Mary Bedford, whom he married in 1888.
He was a member of the choir at Sholing Parish Church for over 50 yrs.
Together with his youngest brother, Dan Christian Moody, he carved
the pulpit for the church. The four letters of the name of his second
wife, Mary, are carved in the four panels of the pulpit.
By 1920 he was living at 24 Firgrove Road, Sholing, now called
Pinegrove Road.
