- John was a wholesale fabric and clothing importer belonging to the firm of Hulbert, Beddoes & Hulbert. John was an alderman in London. He had a summer house which still stands on the main street of Old Basing. In the Nave of the Church of St. James in Spaldwick, Huntingdonshire, a glass window is dedicated to him, his wife Elizabeth, John Ernest d. 1908 and Patrick Ravenhill Hulbert d. 1915. At that time John's son Percy was Priest in Charge at the church.
